  • 1.  Geotechnical Investigations

    • Geological Appraisal of Sites: - Accurate geological site appraisal and assessment are fundamental to the design and risk management of any proposed development. Understanding the rocks in the sub-surface through expert data collection and 2D interpretation allows a thorough assessment of potential risks associated with minerals reactivity, materials quality and potential subsidence. Geological appraisal through field mapping, characterisation, modelling and detailed assessment is fundamental to risk reduction for site development.

    • Soil Borings & Rock Drilling:-

    • Static & Dynamic Cone Penetration Test

Pressuremeter Test: - The pressuremeter test is an in-situ testing method used to achieve a quick measure of the in-situ stress-strain relationship of the soil & rock. the pressuremeter test is performed by applying pressure to the sidewalls of a borehole and observing the corresponding deformation.

    • Static & Cyclic Plate Load Test: - The plate load test is a semi-direct method to estimate the allowable bearing pressure of soil to induce a given amount of settlement. Plates, round or square, varying in size, from 30 to 60 cm and thickness of about 25 mm are employed for the test. The load on the plate is applied by making use of a hydraulic jack. The reaction of the jack load is taken by a cross beam or a steel truss anchored suitably at both the ends. The settlement of the plate is measured by a set of two or more dial gauges of sensitivity 0.02 mm.

    • Pump out Test

    • Field Permeability & Percolation Test

    • In-situ Vane Shear Test: the vane test can be used as a reliable in-situ test for determining the shear strength of soft-sensitive clays. It is in deep beds of such material that the vane test is most valuable, for the simple reason that there is at present no other method known by which the shear strength of these clays can be measured.

    • Dynamic Pile Load: The Dynamic Pile Load test is based on a large falling weight giving the dynamic impact to the elastic body. It equates the energy of hammer blow to work done in overcoming the resistance of the founding strata to the penetration of the ordinary cast in situ piles as well as grouted micropiles. Allowance is made for losses of energy due to the elastic compression of the pile, and subsoil as well as losses caused by the impact of the pile. The Modified Hiley’s formulae given in the code I.S. 2911 part –1, Section I is used in estimating the ultimate driving resistance in tonnes. Applying the factor of safety as outlined in code the safe load on pile can be worked out.
